Ben Kessler is a naturalist, artist, gardener, teacher, activist, and permaculturalist from Afton, VA. His new collection of essays, Rivers of Wind: Reflections on Nature and Language, is now available through ICRL Press. The book covers wide ground, from Native American history to neuroscience, extinction ecology to etymology. From the foreword by Brenda Dunne: “The essays in this book remind us of our participation in the wholeness of life, and urge us to listen to the sound of our planet’s old and uncompromising voices. The future of the earth and of our own species may depend on it.” Ben will be reading excerpts from the book and facilitating a lively conversation on the ecology of language and the intersection of landscape and history.
