Science, Art, and the Sacred at Pari

Jeff Dunne Presents at Pari's Science, Art, and the Sacred

During the 2025 Science, Art, and the Sacred Series hosted by the Pari Center in Tuscany, Italy, Dr. Dunne will present a talk entitled “Syntropy:  A Scientific Expression of Purpose in Life and Beyond Death“.  For more information, and to reserve your spot for attendance Sept 2-9, see Pari’s website.

Abstract

The idea that consciousness is primary is becoming an increasingly prominent topic of conversation in ever-broadening circles.  As this invites us to question the very nature of reality, a great deal of evidence that time and space are not objective absolutes is being examined with a more open mind.  One example of this is the principle of syntropy (predicted by the same laws of physics that lead to entropy) that describes how energy and information can flow from the future to the present, and for which a large body of scientific evidence has been collected.

The implications of syntropy are profound, as they describe a purposeful universe in which all things are intrinsically interconnected.  Just as importantly, the complementarity between syntropy and entropy suggests that we must take a new look at how we understand time and space, and recognize the very strong possibility that these concepts are more likely cognitive tools rather than objective aspects of a universe independent of the consciousnesses that experience it.

This talk will provide a short background on the concept of syntropy and explore not only the above-described implications, but what they mean for understanding life and death in the context of a reality where time is a tool of narrative.

During the 2025 Festival of Consciousness in Barcelona, ICRL’s president, Jeff Dunne, ran two activities. The first was a talk in which he presented the scientific evidence supporting the idea that looking at life as a form of narrative may be more than a loose metaphor, and perhaps not even a metaphor at all!

Following his talk, Jeff ran a workshop entitled “Being Not Me” in which he used art and meditation to guide a group of participants in experiencing alternate consciousnesses.  The one-hour session resulted in some incredible experiences and insights for the participants.

Launch of the FHE Art Installation

Launch of the FHE Art Installation

Understanding the nature of consciousness is intrinsically connected to the processes of self-discovery and the ability to communicate such insights to others… even (and perhaps even most importantly) when those insights defy words. In such circumstances, art is unquestionably our best language for such purposes.

In 2025, ICRL partnered with the Scientific and Medical Network’s Galileo Commission to create an enduring art installation that aims to capture different facets of what it means to be human. More than simply a collection of artworks, however, the FHE installation invites those who view the art, the experiencers, to contribute to the installation by sharing their own insights and reactions.  In this way we aim to create a continually evolving project with new artwork and new interpretations.

In-Person Mini-Academy in Roanoke

In-Person Mini-Academy in Roanoke

An essential part of understanding the nature of consciousness is having a supportive community with whom we can share the journey, people with similar interests and unique perspectives. Towards this end, we are hosted an in-person gathering the weekend of August 16-17, 2025 in Roanoke, Virginia where seven people came together for two days of discussion, relaxation, food, and nature.

This was an experiment to explore how we could reimagine the events PEAR and ICRL held many years ago, called “Academies”. Those lasted a week, bringing people together to coordinate different projects and collaborations. This event was different, being focused not on research but on connection.  We sought to explore options for how to best structure future activities.  Should they center on research, experiments, collaboration, or social interaction? Should they be big or small? Short or long?  While there is no definitive answer yet, there is no doubt that the event was well worth the time for all involved!

WTF Podcast Interview

WTF Podcast Interview

After the passing of her father, Liz Entin delved into understanding the possibilities of life after death, ultimately writing two books about her investigations. She now runs a podcast, WTF Just Happened, in which she has interviewed over a hundred people on a wide range of related topics. In episode 108, she interviews ICRL’s president, Jeff Dunne, about the research done at the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) Laboratory. Check out the recording, and perhaps even share it (and other of Liz’s work) within your circles!

Gainesville Consciousness Dialogues Retreat

Gainesville Consciousness Dialogues Retreat

We are pleased to announce the next Consciousness Dialogues retreat will take place at the Bhaktivedanta Institute for Higher Studies (BIHS) in beautiful Gainesville, Florida.

This first Consciousness Dialogues retreat of 2025 will begin the afternoon of Wednesday, March 26 and continue through the morning of Sunday, March 30.  During these days participants will participate as a group in a selection of activities designed to highlight different aspects awareness. Some examples from the inaugural CD retreat include: guided meditation, out-of-body experiences, dance and improv, group art creation, and (of course) variations of PEAR (Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research) Laboratory experiments like remote viewing and affecting Random Event Generators. After each activity, the group participates in a Bohm-esque discussion focused on exploring the prior consciousness experience through the lens of foundational principles.

First Consciousness Dialogues Retreat a Great Success

First Consciousness Dialogues Retreat a Great Success

Several years ago ICRL partnered with the Bhaktivedanta Institute for Higher Studies (BIHS) on a project to explore the language that we use in consciousness research, with the ultimate goal of creating a form of Rosetta Stone to help everyone understand how we intend the words we use.

The effort experienced a COVID delay, but is finally back on track! At the end of June, 2024, ICRL and BIHS joined forces with the Monroe Institute to host our first Consciousness Dialogues Retreat at their beautiful facility in Faber, Virginia.

The event was held over the course of four days with a dozen of the most beautiful souls humanity has to offer. In that time, we engaged in a variety of group activities that ranged from interpersonal relating to meditation, art, dance, and – of course – telekinesis and remote perception.  After each activity, the group engaged in deep discussion, exploring the essence of the shared experience and the expressions of consciousness that were found within.

What’s Next?

Is this going to happen again?  Feedback from the group made it unanimously clear: these event must continue!  We are in the process of finalizing logistics, but here’s how things are shaking out.  In the spring, it looks like we will hold the second retreat at the BIHS facility in Gainesville, Florida.

Later in the year we may return to the Monroe Institute or the ICRL Retreat Center, both in Virginia, although we are also exploring a future Europe-based options as well.

Consciousness Alliance Kickoff

Consciousness Alliance Kickoff

It is no surprise, and no overstatement, to say that ICRL is just one of a great many organizations that seek to raise awareness of the nature of consciousness, to emphasize that we are more than the physical, and to help make the world a healthier and more humane place in the process.  Alas, while those who seek to exploit the planet and its organisms for personal and financial gain are very well-organized, the greater community promoting post-materialist view is… not.

While there may not be a lot of money out there for organizations and efforts that seek to help people evolve and find peace and greater harmony, we do have something to offer that is – believe it or not – more satisfying than financial wealth: family.  And we hypothesize that we can leverage such personal relationships to create a network of mutually-supportive organizations aimed at making the world a better place.

This is the vision behind the Consciousness Alliance.

ICRL, the Scientific and Medical Network, and the Pari Center partnered to organize an initial Alliance meeting at the beginning of July 2024.

Ten individuals representing roughly twenty organizations met for two days, exploring the potential for what the Alliance could be, how it should function, and what next steps are on the horizon.

The initial meeting was held at the fledgling ICRL Retreat Center in Roanoke Virginia, and we are now in the planning process for a second in-person gathering, to be held outside of London in November (16th and 17th).

If you are part of an organization that fits the goals and intentions of the Consciousness Alliance and would like more information on what the Alliance is and how to get involved, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.  And in case you missed it on the right-hand side of the page, there is a link to a CA page with a little more information too.
