The positive benefits that come from practicing a sense of gratitude cannot be overstated. For those who are swayed by statistics, studies have repeatedly demonstrated that gratitude is correlated with numerous health benefits, but perhaps most compelling of all is the insight to which simple logic leads us: the more we focus on that which is good in the world, the more we become aware that there is good in the world. In the face of the rage-fueling information feeds that are so pervasive in the world today, that’s a truth that can be hard to remember.
In February 2024, ICRL began holding weekly sessions to bring people together for an hour to to share something positive that happened to them in the past week. This practice has, over the years, led to a strong core group that goes far beyond people sharing experiences; it has formed a circle of strong friendships that have served to support each member on an ongoing basis, through ups and downs, and with beautiful insights and a lot of laughter.
Originally each session was transcribed and that text was used to capture the experiences in the form of artwork (see below). Although we haven’t been doing that specific aspect lately, the group is open still, meeting on Saturdays at 11:00 am East Coast time, and you are invited to become part of it. Note: We use a service called Zeffy to handle single registrations, which has the advantage of not charging any fees but the disadvantage that they default to including a donation to Zeffy at the same time. That is not necessary and can be easily excluded or adjusted by simply selecting ‘Other’ in that section.

In the early days, we would transcribe the sessions and then use Generative AI to create artwork based on the experiences that people shared. While we are not continuing that process right now, you might enjoy looking at some of the work that was created in 2024.
