President's Note
May was a very busy month, and as you will see below, the upcoming summer continues that trend. One thing that has been slowly happening behind the scenes is the reworking of the ICRL website, and as a step in that process you may notice that the links in this newsletter point to the new site, which continues to sit at "https://icrl.org" until we are ready to fully shift over. We hope you will like the new design and are excited to hopefully go fully live with it in the upcoming weeks.
Until then, please check out the myriad of ICRL opportunities coming up - most of which are chances to come together face-to-face, the value of which cannot be overstated as we collectively navigate this dynamics (and potentially unsettling) world climate.

If you can join us in Roanoke, VA on the weekend of August 16-17th, send us an email to reserve your spot (and indicate whether you would like to stay onsite or at a nearby hotel).

Appreciating Life and Death

ICRL's president, Jeff Dunne, recently gave a talk entitled "Consciousness and Matter: A Neuroscientific Perspective" at the Advancements In Research On The Dying Process seminar in Alicante, Spain. Although the session was not recorded - and so you don't get to hear Jeff's embarrassingly halting Spanish - you can read an English transcript of his talk here.

This Thursday at 1:00 pm EDT // 6:00 pm UK, ICRL's president, Jeff Dunne, joins a distinguished panel being hosted by the Galileo Commission. This online event is entitled "Pan-Episteme Dialogue: Robots and AI", and will explore the fascinating (and somewhat unsettling) topic of where we are headed in the adoption of technologies that put machines alongside humans. You can learn more on the Galileo Commission event page.
