President's Note
Autumn has arrived, at least in the northern hemisphere, and hopefully you are enjoying the cooler weather and perhaps even some beautiful colors emerging into the landscape. Transitions can be a glorious experience, even if they sometimes leave us with a sense of uncertainty - or perhaps because of that!
While the new website has had a few... ahh, interesting quirks that continue to be ironed out (mostly with newsletter subscription signups), the good news is that if you are receiving this, then they have only been minor inconveniences (hopefully!), and we're very glad you're receiving it. And I'm excited to say that we have additional improvements in the works, such as the option for receiving texts instead of emails (including a daily Thought of the Day text for ICRL Family members), course materials, and even some interactive games.
There's no question that the world (like our website) is in a state of transition, and so we need to steel ourselves with the right intentions that great things are coming. As for me, though, I can only make assurances that more great things are on the horizon for our ICRL community :-) |

This past month ICRL's president, Jeff Dunne, had a new article published in a special issue of the Journal for the Study of Religious Experience entitled “AI and Religious Experience”. In the article, AI and the Mysterious, Jeff provides a brief introduction to how Generative AI (GAI) systems like ChatGPT and Gemini work, with a focus on their similarities and differences compared to how humans think. Perhaps even more interesting, he draws parallels between GAI and divination tools like the Tarot and I-Ching, and offers ideas on how to best use these new tools.

If you never had a chance to visit the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research Laboratory in person, there are new ways to bring the lab to you. We have always maintained a copy of the original PEAR website, but now have a modest online laboratory tour, guided by video clips starring Brenda Dunne. For a more extensive experience, the PEAR Proposition DVD Set is now available online without having to bother with those pesky physical DVDs (and remember that ICRL Family members will receive a 20% discount off the price of that set - digital or physical).
And if you are in the UK (or ready to start planning a vacation), don't forget that several pieces of the original PEAR equipment are on loan to the Wyrd Experience in Yorkshire, awaiting an in-person visit!

Our friends in Spain are offering a new 8 module/24 session course focused on Death and Consciousness. To quote their website, "This advanced international course is a pioneering training in deep studies on neuroscience, ethics and spirituality, designed to transform your view of consciousness, dying and human accompaniment. A unique academic proposal that combines scientific rigor with contemplative wisdom, aimed at professionals and people involved in personal growth, who wish to explore, and deepen from compassion, presence and integral knowledge of the human experience in its deepest limits."
The course, offered in both Spanish and English, includes lecturers from around the world (including Jeff Dunne and other members of ICRL).

From Italy, the Pari Center has two upcoming opportunities to share:
Beyond Jung: Jung & Ecology: In this online event, with six sessions held from November 22 through December 7, six Jungian analysts and academics at the cutting edge of this exciting and crucial area of research and practice share their diverse modes of professional engagement.
An Armchair Guide to Quantum Mechanics: This online course offers a semi-serious approach (and for those do not already know Jonathan Allday, I assure you that it will be filled with humor!) to one of the most important fundamental theories in physics, The course comprises 10 sessions from October 28 – November 18 (7 one-hour lectures and 3 sessions of group conversation and Q&A).

And from southern England, the SMN is currently offering Season 3 of At the Edge of Knowing, a set of 16 weekly thought-provoking webinars from leading thinkers and practitioners. The series (running from 3 Sept to 17 Dec) explores consciousness, spirituality, science, and transformation. Season tickets are £99 for members and £129 non-members.

Finally, this time from northern England, Peter Merry and the Wyrd Team is once again hosting the Science and Consciousness conference at the beautiful Broughton Sanctuary. This year's theme is Wyrd People, and ICRL is proud to be presenting several talks and workshops at the event, which runs October 20th through the 24th.
In addition to the experience of the conference, which has continued to offer the best in food, company, setting, and content, it is also a wonderful opportunity to see much of PEAR's equipment and furnishings in a beautiful new setting. They have already restored Murphy and the Drum experiments, set up the Robot and old REG machines, and are now seeking funding to support the restoration of the Fountain and Pendulum equipment as well.
